Our ERDF Projects promoted entrepreneurship and self employment and offered tailored business support to existing businesses in the CLLD area. The CLLD programme was also able to invest in the development of business hubs in local communities to support businesses in the area.

This project engaged and supported unemployed women facing multiple barriers, who had an enterprise idea, to explore self-employment, gain real-life enterprise experience without risk and build networks so they were confident to ‘go it alone’. Support included accredited training, enterprise workshops, opportunities to sell product/service through pop-ups, markets and one-to-one business advice.

‘Passion to Paycheque’ supported people to ignite and explore their passion to make a positive change through self-employment and/or starting not-for-profit organisations. The entrepreneurship skills that they started to learn, such as critical thinking, problem solving and creating ideas empowered participants to be better equipped to enter the job market or further their own career.

This project supported mainly early-stage businesses to develop their growth plans. The businesses embarked on an inspirational tour exploring entrepreneurial locations in Newcastle, participated in growth workshops and helped each other through peer-to-peer learning sets.
